Egypt’s Sinai power supply phase one sees EGP 1.64bn investments
A substation will be established in Mesaieed at a cost of EGP 396.52 million

Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity announced that investments of the first phase of electricity supply in Sinai reached EGP 1.64 billion.

An agreement was signed to establish a 220/66/22 kilovolt (kv) gas insulated substation (GIS) in Mesaieed at a cost of EGP 396.52 million over a period of 14 months, according to a statement on Thursday.

In addition, another deal was concluded for the construction of a 66/22 kv GIS substation in Sheikh Zuweid at a cost of EGP 225 million over a period of 12 months.

Moreover, a contract is expected to be finalised in the near future for linking the two substations in Mesaieed and Sheikh Zuweid using underground cables at a length of 43 kilometres (km) with an investment cost of EGP 1 billion.
